Have A Cartier Christmas

Have A Cartier Christmas

Cartier’s emblematic pilot shape was originally launched by Maison Cartier in 2005. It has been renewed over the subsequent years due to it’s strikingly strong look, modern attitude and powerful masculine design. The frame remains identifiably Cartier due to its distinctive Santos screw décor - a symbol of the Santos de Cartier collection.

With a prestigious and precious finish, this elegant aviator design is an exceptional combination of tulip tree - commonly called Bolivar: a rare and precious wood - and carbon fibre which provides the sunglass frame with a sense of modernity and unrivalled refinement. Delicate gold and silver tones metals interlock and weave gently across the frame in perfect unison.
Of course Cartier had to be featured in our iConnoisseur's Collection as it is one of the most venerated and exciting names in the world of luxury. Primarily recognised for their watch and jewellery design, the brand’s prominence, position and longevity within the fashion market is truly impressive.
Founded in 1847 by Louis-François Cartier after he had taken over his master’s workshop amidst the French revolution, Cartier’s business grew over the decade, opening his first boutique in 1859. In 1874, Louis-François' son Alfred Cartier took over the company, but it was Alfred's sons Louis, Pierre and Jacques who established the brand name worldwide. Louis ran the Paris branch of Cartier, moving to the Rue de la Paix in 1899 and he was responsible for some of the company's most successful creations, such as the ‘mystery clock’ which had a transparent dial as well as Art Deco inspired wristwatches.

The ‘Santos’ was born in 1904 when the Brazilian pioneer aviator, Alberto Santos-Dumont, complained to his friend Louis Cartier about the impracticality of using a pocket watch while flying his plane - in order to help his friend Cartier designed a flat, reliable, wristwatch with a distinctive square bezel which went on to become Cartier’s first men's wristwatch. The brothers continued designing exquisite and at times elaborate timepieces inspired by the ever-changing world around them before eventually transferring Cartier from family ownership in 1972.

The brand has never relinquished its commitment to excellence, upholding their reputation as the ‘jeweller of kings’ with each and every release, the Cartier brand continues to be held in high regard when it comes to performance, design and reliability.

Cartier Glasses have forged their way ahead in the eyewear market due to the brand's impressive range of frame shapes and designs which renders them instantly recognisable. Giving the gift of Cartier this Christmas is a true sign of prosperity and perfection. Each design is just as stunning today as they were at the point of their inception; more than 160 years into the past. Much like Cartier jewellery, these sunglasses are the chosen frame for individuals in high-class contemporary society who understand and seek the incredible craftsmanship required for blending the qualities of horology and jewellery into a single form.
