All New Berluti!

All New Berluti!

PRET A VOIR is proud to be carrying Berluti’s debut eyewear collection, in association with Thélios, which blends together classic frame shapes and materials with innovative lens features. The collection is inspired by the Berluti brand heritage which can be seen through brand signature styles such as Patina, Scritto and Canvas Signature.

As a heritage label with more than 100 years of history, Berluti is a french maison that was founded by an Italian bootmaker in 1895. Alessandro Berluti moved to Paris at the age of 19 and with the aim of making shoes for elegant men. Since then, every generation of the Berluti Maison has refined the exceptional heritage and culture of the brand and their status as masters of leather providing shoes for The Duke of Windsor, Jean Cocteau and Andy Warhol… Since 2018, Kris Van Assche has been the brand’s creative director, he is celebrated for his urban and minimalist aesthetic that balances heritage and innovation meanwhile integrating streetwear.

Berluti introduces their first eyewear collection with a variety of edgy rectangular and rounded aviator shapes that are made from striated acetate. Showcasing a range of innovative design techniques, Berluti’s glasses stand out in a crowd due to their impressive rainbow-effect lenses and distinctive Berluti branding. First featured in Kris Van Assche’s first fashion show for the Berluti Maison, PRET A VOIR has eight sunglass and eight optical frames available.

The Berluti Comete Metal BL40015U 90G and the Berluti Comete Metal BL40015U 20S celebrate the brand’s long standing relationship with Patina. The patina colouring process is a traditional practise for colouring leather - Berluti have used this method since the 1980s when colouring their mens shoes. Patina enhances leather with colour, light and character and Berluti have managed to imitate this technique through a masking mirror treatment on their sunglass lenses. Each Berluti leather patina is completely handmade and unique, which is achieved through a variety of solvents, essential oils and pigments - paying tribute to process, Berluti sunglasses are created with lenses that showcase a gradual, iridescent, colourway that is like no other. The frame is finalised with a ‘1895’ signature representing the inception of the brand.
Berluti Thunder Scritto BL40007U 01C is a influenced by calligraphy - applied across the sunglass lenses, Berluti have reproduced a 19th century manuscript, scritto is applied on the lenses, lasered on the rims and inside the temples in order to provide the frame with more unicitry and echo the Berluti product range.

Berluti Bright Metal BL40005U 16C and Berluti Bright Metal BL40005U 93C are pilot frames that are ultra thin and lightweight thanks to Berluti’s ‘Lamerino’ technique. Recalling the brand’s Canvas Signature which was introduced on the FW20 Catwalk, and in the travel capsule collection in collaboration with globe-trotter.

The Berluti brand name is printed across the aviator lenses bringing together the brand’s past and the present through combining timeless shapes with contemporary colours. On each hinge a subtle metallic “B” can be seen, this small but impressive detail is then repeated on the nose plates.

The optical frames are equally as remarkable. The collection is made in Japan, each frame meticulously hand-crafted with thin acetate temples that provide lightness and durability. These frame shapes are a lot more vintage-inspired with statement silver-tone details with scritto motifs lasered to the internal facets of the frame.

We can fit any of these frames with your exact prescription, you just need to input your prescription details in the right hand side of the product page when you're adding the frame to your basket.
