Guccio Gucci was born in 1881 to a simple Italian leather goods maker. One of his first jobs was as a porter at the Savoy hotel in London where he became obsessed with the glamorous suitcases that the guests arrived with from all over the world. This inspired Guccio Gucci to open his Italian fashion label in 1921 producing luxury travel goods for Italy's wealthy upper-classes, as well as equestrian equipment. Gucci is one of the oldest Italian fashion brands in operation today.
In 2014, Marco Bizzarri became the CEO of Gucci and hired Alessandro Michele as creative director. These two completely redesigned Gucci, preparing it for the next generation by departing from GG’s outdated ideas that were holding the brand back. The design duo removed the historic faces of the brand, such as Jackie Kennedy and Grace Kelly, and replaced them with more modern day celebrities such as Rhianna, Lana Del Rey and Harry Styles. Alessandro Michele has been praised for his work making fashion more gender-fluid, unique and fun meanwhile still keeping to the high standard of Guccio Gucci’s original work.

AUTHENTICITY AND MANUFACTURE

All our frames come direct from the manufacturer in Italy, and are sent out with the official Gucci case (which can vary between different models), cleaning cloth, and authenticity certificate. Each pair of sunglasses comes printed with the Gucci model and colour code on the inside arm, along with the size (in the format '49 [] 22', where 49 is the lens width and 22 is the bridge width). Also printed on the inside of the arm is 'Made in Italy', along with the Gucci logo. There is often a unique serial number printed too, which can be authenticated at any Gucci boutique.

Recently, the addition of the Flora Print collection allows Gucci fans to own a unique pair of frames.
